We may ask you to undergo a psychological or psychiatric evaluation and/or counseling sessions. A large percentage of chronic pain sufferers have associated depression and anxiety. Chronic pain affects not only the body, but also the mind. We will not tell you “it’s all in your head.” But certain emotional and psychological states affect, among other things, the degree of suffering and the willingness and ability to fight back. It is sometimes beneficial to talk with a therapist who can identify those conditions and suggest strategies that will help the rehabilitation process.
