About The Pain Center

I've known pain. It has been my companion for more than half of the way. It has taught me more about pain medicine than all my years of training.

That makes us fellow travelers.

Every patient we see carries a story — which makes sense, if you listen close enough. It would be our privilege if you shared yours with us.

Here's what that means in practice:

You wanna know a secret? Your body is the best expert you'll ever meet. It knows everything. It wants to tell you the story — and it has all the solutions. And we will listen.

We won't judge your story. Listen, I'll be the first one to tell you that every sinner has a future, and every saint has a history — and maybe, just maybe, all the King's men didn't know how to listen.

Help is on the way. We'll get you taken care of as soon as possible.

And here is my commitment to you:

Your story will be heard. Every word of it. We don't cherry-pick who deserves help. If you're looking for us, we'll be here for you. From your first call to your last visit, you're somebody, and we're teammates. All the advice we give is backed by both science and hard-won experience.

— Dr. Calin Savu

“The staff was friendly, caring, and made me feel comfortable from the start. Dr. Savu went out of his way to thoroughly explain the epidural procedure, which really put me at ease. The procedure itself was completely painless. I’ve been dealing with severe back and sciatica pain for three weeks, to the point that I couldn’t work or even get out of bed for very long. Tonight, for the first time in a long time, I am completely pain-free. I’m beyond grateful for the care and expertise I received and highly recommend Dr. Savu to anyone struggling with chronic pain.”

“I love my medical team both upstairs and down, they are doing there absolute best at keeping me at peace by diligently seeking approval from my finicky insurance company and giving me the absolute best advice and treatment for the multiple issues in my nervous system and back issues. I highly recommend this business to anyone with similar issues.”

“I have had pain from degenerative disc disease for 14 years. Dr. Savu has treated me for the past seven years. I have had amazing results from his treatments on my back and neck. I have had marked improvement of my pain and have been able to continue my core exercises which enables me to work and do many of the activities that I enjoy. I am a physician and recommend him to many of my patients.”

“Have had chronic disabling back pain for years. After two sessions of Radiofrequency Ablations by Dr. Savu, I had complete relief for the past two years. He's very competent and personable. I highly recommend!”

“Dr. Savu has been my pain doctor for almost 6 years. Has always been helpful and professional and relieves my pain. I have 2 titanium rods about 6 inches long in my back along with 12 screws. I broke my back about 6 years ago and I'm still seeing Dr Savu. He really shows a sincere interest in his patients. The front office people are always helpful and friendly.”

Doctor Savu has been my doctor for many years and he is great with his patients. He listens and doesn't judge you. Anytime I have a problem it's always delt with quickly and they always help me. I would recommend anybody needing pain management go see him.

  • We'll put together a treatment strategy that addresses the cause of your pain — not just the symptoms.

FAQ

qUESTIONS WE HEAR ALL THE TIME

Find answers to common questions about becoming a patient, what to expect at your first visit, how to prepare for treatment, and when to contact our team after a procedure.

  • To get started, complete the patient intake form and bring your photo ID, medical insurance card, and prescription drug card to your first appointment. Patients must be established with a primary care provider and be referred by the physician treating their pain.

  • Usually, your first visit is an office evaluation where our team reviews your history, symptoms, and treatment goals. In some cases, a procedure may be done the same day, but that depends on factors like your insurance requirements, whether you take blood thinners, and whether the treatment requires ultrasound or fluoroscopic guidance.

  • Patients are generally allowed to eat a light breakfast or lunch unless told otherwise. You should arrange for a driver, let the nurse know if you are taking blood thinners or are sick, and follow any medication instructions given by the office. For some diagnostic tests, pain medication should not be taken on the day of the procedure, while routine medications such as heart, diabetes, and blood pressure medicine should usually be continued.

  • If you develop severe back pain, new or worsening numbness or weakness, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, or signs of infection near the injection site, contact The Pain Center right away. If symptoms continue to worsen and you cannot travel safely, go to the nearest emergency room or call 911.

  • We accept most major commercial insurance plans, as well as Medicare and Medicaid. One
exception is Ambetter. Because coverage varies from plan to plan — and even between policies within the same insurance company — we strongly recommend calling us at (870) 972-0411 before your first visit so we can verify your specific plan and benefits. When you come in, please bring both your medical insurance card and your prescription drug card (they are often separate), so our team has everything we need to file cleanly on your behalf.

  • Yes. The Pain Center of Jonesboro is a referral-based practice, which means you'll need to be
established with a primary care physician (PCP) and be referred to us by your PCP or another treating physician. This isn't a hurdle — it's how we make sure we have the full picture of your health history before Dr. Savu sees you, so your first visit is as productive as possible.

  • Please bring the following items to your first visit:

    • Driver's License or Photo ID

    • Medical Insurance Card

    • Your completed Patient Intake Form (available on our contact page)

Having all of this on hand lets us spend your appointment time talking about you rather than chasing paperwork.

  • Once your referral and records arrive from your primary care physician, our team reaches out to
schedule you as soon as the next available new-patient slot on Dr. Savu's calendar. Wait times vary based on the schedule and the urgency noted by your referring physician, so the best way to get a
straight answer for your situation is to call us at (870) 972-0411.
